All branches of the metallurgy sector are able to work together within MITF:

  • Jernkontoret
  • Scandinavian Copper Development Association (SCDA)
  • Nordic Galvanizers
  • Svemin
  • IKEM, Innovations- och kemiindustrierna i Sverige

MITF’s goal is to increase understanding of metals and their environmental effect. A strategically important part of the work is to build trusting relationships with authorities, politicians, companies and other interested parties.

MITF works also on disseminating the correct terminology concerning metals. A good example of this is the definition of the term “heavy metal” which intrinsically has no connection to its dangerousness or environmental properties. It merely specifies that a metal has a high density (>4.5 g/cm3) and that most metals are indeed heavy.

The collaboration between interested parties takes place in project form (on behalf of specified goals).
